Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving, head towards the Spitzkoppe area from the nearest major town, which is Swakopmund. The drive takes approximately 1.5 hours. From Swakopmund, take the B2 road towards Usakos. After about 40 km, turn left onto the C36 road. Continue on the C36 for about 50 km until you reach the turn-off to Spitzkoppe. Follow the signs to the Spitzkoppe Campsite. Once at the campsite, you can park your car and begin your hike to Rock Pool Spitzkoppe, which is about a 30-minute walk from the campsite. Follow the trail markers towards the rock formations.

  • Public Transportation

    For those using public transportation, take a bus from Swakopmund to Usakos. Buses run regularly and the fare is around N$ 70-100. Once you arrive in Usakos, you will need to find a taxi or shuttle service to take you to Spitzkoppe, which may cost an additional N$ 200-300. Upon arrival at Spitzkoppe, you can either stay at the campsite or arrange for a local guide to lead you to Rock Pool Spitzkoppe, which is a short walk from the campsite.

    If you are already in Spitzkoppe, you can hike to Rock Pool Spitzkoppe from the campsite. Start at the campsite trailhead, following the well-marked paths. The hike to the Rock Pool takes approximately 30 minutes. Ensure you have plenty of water and wear appropriate hiking shoes as the terrain can be rocky.
