Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Kathmandu, head south on the Prithvi Highway (also known as the Kathmandu-Pokhara Highway) for approximately 40 kilometers. Look for signs indicating the turn-off toward Kulekhani. When you reach the junction, take the left turn toward Kulekhani and continue driving for another 15 kilometers. The road will lead you directly to the Kulekhani Hydropower Reservoir. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition as some parts of the road can be winding.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  To reach Kulekhani via public transportation, begin your journey at the New Bus Park in Kathmandu. Look for buses heading to Naubise or Bhaktapur, which are common routes. The fare is typically around 200-300 NPR. After about an hour, get off at Naubise. From there, you can find local microbuses or taxis that go directly to Kulekhani. The ride will take an additional 30-40 minutes, and the fare should be approximately 100-150 NPR.

• Taxi

  A convenient way to reach Kulekhani is by hiring a taxi from Kathmandu. You can negotiate the fare; expect it to be around 3000-4000 NPR for a one-way trip. The taxi will take you directly to Kulekhani Hydropower Reservoir, and the journey will take approximately 1.5 hours, depending on traffic conditions.

• Motorbike Rental

  If you're feeling adventurous, consider renting a motorbike in Kathmandu. Rental fees typically range from 1000-1500 NPR per day. Head south on the Prithvi Highway and follow the directions mentioned for cars. This option offers you the flexibility to explore the surrounding areas at your own pace. Just make sure to have a valid license and wear a helmet.
