If you are in Thamel, start by heading east on Tridevi Marg. Walk straight until you reach the intersection with Durbar Marg. Turn left onto Durbar Marg and continue walking until you reach the intersection with Sundhara Road. Turn right onto Sundhara Road. Continue straight for about 10-15 minutes, and you will see Dharahara on your left. It is a tall tower, so you can spot it from a distance.

From any location in Kathmandu, you can easily take a taxi to Dharahara. Simply tell the driver to take you to 'Dharahara' or 'Sundhara Road'. Most drivers will know this landmark. The taxi will drop you off right in front of the Dharahara entrance, making it easy to access the site.
