Getting There

Walking
Start your journey in Thamel, a popular tourist area in Kathmandu. From any point in Thamel, head towards the main street, known as 'Tridevi Marg.' Walk along this street until you reach the intersection with 'Z Street.' Turn left onto Z Street. Continue straight until you reach the busy Ratna Park area. Here, you can find local shops and eateries. To get to the bus station, walk towards 'Kantipath' road and follow the signs for 'New Bus Park.' This is where you'll catch a bus to Lukla, the starting point for the Gokyo to Everest Base Camp Trek.

Bus
At the New Bus Park, look for buses heading to Lukla. It's advisable to arrive early, as buses can fill up quickly, especially during peak trekking season. The bus ride to Lukla takes about 8-10 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Prepare for a scenic journey through winding mountain roads. Once you arrive in Lukla, you will head to the local tea houses to rest and prepare for your trek.

From Lukla, the trek to Gokyo begins. Follow the marked trail that leads from the Lukla airport, descending towards the Dudh Koshi River. You will pass through several small villages, including Phakding and Namche Bazaar. The trek to Gokyo takes about 10-12 days, depending on your pace and acclimatization needs. Make sure to stay hydrated and enjoy the stunning views of the Himalayas along your journey.

After reaching Gokyo, take time to acclimatize and enjoy the beautiful Gokyo Lakes.
