Getting There

Walking
Start at the Thamel area, which is a popular tourist district. From Thamel, head towards the Ratnapark bus station. Walk straight on Tridevi Marg, and then turn right onto the road leading to Ratnapark. This should take you around 15 minutes. At Ratnapark, look for a local bus heading towards Balaju. Board the bus (make sure to have small change for the fare). Once you reach Balaju, get off and walk towards the Balaju Water Garden. From the water garden, you will find a trail leading to Nagarjun Forest Reserve. Follow the signs towards Nagarjun Hill. The total walking time from Thamel to the start of the trail will be about 1 to 1.5 hours.

Public Bus
From Thamel, make your way to the nearest bus station, which is around Ratnapark. You can catch a local bus heading to Balaju. The bus fare is inexpensive, so keep some small change ready. The ride should take about 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive at Balaju, walk towards the Balaju Water Garden. The entrance to Nagarjun Forest Reserve is a short hike from the garden. Total travel time is approximately 1 hour including waiting time for the bus.

Taxi (for those who prefer not to walk)
If you're looking for a more direct route, consider taking a taxi from Thamel directly to the Nagarjun Forest Reserve. Taxis are available throughout Thamel, and you can negotiate the fare before getting in. The drive will take about 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. Inform the driver to drop you off at the entrance of Nagarjun Forest Reserve. Once you arrive, you can begin exploring the forest trails.
