Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey from Biratnagar, the largest city in Province No. 1. Head west on the East-West Highway (Mahendra Highway) until you reach the border town of Pashupatinagar. From there, cross the border into India. Follow the signs towards Mirik, West Bengal. Kharbani is located approximately 20 kilometers from the border. Ensure you have your passport and any necessary visas for crossing the border. The drive takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic and border crossing times.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Biratnagar to Pashupatinagar. Various local bus services operate this route; the bus fare is around NPR 100-150. After reaching Pashupatinagar, you will need to cross the border into India. Once in India, you can find shared jeeps or local taxis that go to Mirik. The fare for a shared jeep will be approximately INR 200-300. From Mirik, Kharbani is around 5 kilometers away; you can hire a local taxi or walk there.
Walking
If you prefer walking, once you reach Mirik from the public transport, you can stroll to Kharbani. The walk is scenic and takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. Follow the road signs towards Lower Millikthong. Ensure you have comfortable walking shoes and stay hydrated.
