Car
If you're traveling by car from major cities in Terai, drive towards the Sauraha area, which is the gateway to Chitwan National Park. From Bharatpur, follow the signs to Sauraha, which is approximately a 30-minute drive (around 15 km). Ensure you have a GPS device or a map app to guide you along the route. Once you reach Sauraha, look for parking options near the park entrance.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach Chitwan National Park via public transport, take a bus from cities like Birgunj, Lumbini, or Butwal to Bharatpur. The bus journey takes about 4-6 hours depending on your starting point. Upon arriving at Bharatpur, you can take a local bus or a taxi to Sauraha, which is about 30 minutes away. Make sure to ask the bus conductor to let you know when you reach the Bharatpur bus station, as it can be busy.
Rickshaw or Taxi
Once you arrive in Sauraha, you can hire a rickshaw or taxi to take you directly to the entrance of Chitwan National Park. The cost for a rickshaw ride is usually around NPR 100-300, while a taxi may cost NPR 300-500. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey. Always confirm that the driver knows the park entrance.
