From Haarlem, head to Haarlem Station (Haarlem Centraal). You can reach the station on foot, as it's centrally located. Once at the station, purchase a ticket to Alkmaar. Trains to Alkmaar run frequently, approximately every 30 minutes. The journey takes about 30 to 40 minutes. Upon arrival at Alkmaar Station, exit the station and follow the signs for the city center.

After exiting Alkmaar Station, turn left onto the Verlaat and continue straight. Follow the signs towards the city center (Centrum). This walk will take about 15 minutes. You will pass a few shops and cafes along the way. Keep going until you reach the 'Achterstraat' and turn right. Continue straight, and you will see the iconic Waagplein where the Kaasmarkt is located.

Alternatively, you can take a bus from Haarlem to Alkmaar. From the center of Haarlem, find the nearest bus stop (check for bus lines 140, 141, or 142, which all direct to Alkmaar). The bus ride takes about 30 to 40 minutes. Once you arrive at Alkmaar, disembark at the stop closest to the city center. From there, it's a short 5-10 minute walk to Waagplein. Follow the directions mentioned above for walking from Alkmaar Station.
