Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start your journey in the IJsselmeer Polders region. Use your GPS or a navigation app to set your destination to Arkemheen, Nijkerk (Latitude: 52.2492722, Longitude: 5.4375559). From towns like Lelystad or Enkhuizen, take the A6 motorway towards Almere. Continue on the A27 towards Amersfoort, then take the exit for Nijkerk. Follow the local roads to the nature preserve, which is well signposted. Parking is available nearby, and there may be a small fee of around €2-€5 for parking, depending on the season.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a train from your nearest station to Nijkerk. NS (Dutch Railways) provides frequent service to Nijkerk from major cities like Amsterdam and Utrecht. Once you arrive at Nijkerk station, exit the station and look for bus 103, which will take you to the nearest stop for Arkemheen. The bus ride is approximately 15 minutes and costs around €3-€5. Once you get off at the bus stop, follow the walking signs leading to the nature preserve, which is about a 10-minute walk.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, Nijkerk is accessible via dedicated bike paths from various points in the IJsselmeer Polders. Rent a bike in Nijkerk or bring your own. From the center of Nijkerk, follow the signs for the cycling routes that lead to Arkemheen. The ride is pleasant and will take about 20-30 minutes. Be prepared for some small hills and beautiful scenery along the way. No additional costs other than bike rental if you do not have your own.
