From the Carson City Downtown area, walk to the nearest bus stop for the Carson City Public Transit system. You will want to board the Route 2 bus heading towards the Lake Tahoe area. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the stop at the intersection of Highway 50 and Highway 89. From there, transfer to the Route 3 bus that will take you towards South Lake Tahoe. After about 15 minutes, get off at the Emerald Bay State Park stop. You will need to walk about 5 minutes from the bus stop to the park entrance.

Start from Carson City’s city center and rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops. Head south on Carson Street and follow the bike path to Highway 50, then take a left onto Highway 50.
