If you are traveling by car, start by heading towards South Lake Tahoe. Use the US-50 E highway. Once you reach South Lake Tahoe, turn onto Mount Tallac Road and follow it until you see the signs for Cascade Falls Trail. The trailhead is located at Cascade Falls Trail, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150. There is a parking area available near the trailhead, but it can fill up quickly during peak tourist seasons.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take the BlueGo bus service, which operates in the Lake Tahoe area. You can catch the BlueGo bus from various locations in Lake Tahoe. Make sure to check their schedule for the nearest stop to your location. Get off at the South Lake Tahoe stop closest to Mount Tallac Road and then walk to Cascade Falls Trail. It’s about a 1-mile walk from the nearest bus stop to the trailhead.
Hiking
After parking your car or arriving by public transport, begin your hike on the Cascade Falls Trail. The trail is approximately 1.5 miles long and is rated as moderate in difficulty. Follow the well-marked path that leads you through beautiful pine forests with stunning views of the surrounding area. Be sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring plenty of water.
