Getting There

    If you are driving from South Lake Tahoe, head east on US-50 E towards Stateline. Continue for about 3 miles, then take the exit for CA-89 S towards Emerald Bay. After about 7 miles, turn left onto Mount Tallac Trail. Follow the road until it ends at the trailhead parking area. Be sure to arrive early as parking can fill up quickly.

    To reach Mount Tallac Trail via public transportation, start by taking the Blue Go public bus from the Stateline Transit Center. Board the bus heading towards South Lake Tahoe. Get off at the stop at the intersection of US-50 and CA-89. From there, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 miles south along CA-89 until you reach Mount Tallac Trail. Please ensure to wear comfortable shoes as the walk is along the roadside.

    If you are coming from the north side of Lake Tahoe, take CA-89 S from Tahoe City. Follow the road for approximately 25 miles until you reach the intersection with Mount Tallac Trail. Turn right onto Mount Tallac Trail and drive to the parking area at the trailhead.
