Car
To reach the Whippany Railway Museum from Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge by car, start by exiting the refuge and head southwest on Long Hill Road. Turn right onto New Vernon Road (CR 510) and continue for about 2 miles. Turn left onto Morris Avenue and drive for approximately 1.5 miles. Merge onto I-287 N via the ramp on the left towards Morristown. After about 9 miles, take exit 35 for NJ-10 E toward Whippany. Continue on NJ-10 E for 2.5 miles, then merge onto NJ-51 S. Follow NJ-51 S until you reach Railroad Plaza. The museum will be located on your right at 1 Railroad Plaza, Whippany, NJ 07981. Parking is available at the museum.

To visit the Whippany Railway Museum via public transportation from Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, first, you will need to get to the nearest train station. You can take a local bus (check NJ Transit for specific routes) to the Morristown Train Station. From Morristown, board a NJ Transit train on the Morristown Line heading toward New York Penn Station. Get off at the Morristown Station, then transfer to the NJ Transit 873 bus towards Whippany. Disembark at the stop closest to Railroad Plaza. The museum will be a short walk from the bus stop. Be sure to check NJ Transit schedules for bus and train times, as they may vary.
