From Paterson, you can catch the NJ Transit bus number 74 or 75 towards New York City. Board the bus at the Paterson Bus Terminal located at 126 Broadway. The journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Get off at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan. From there, transfer to the subway.

After arriving at the Port Authority Bus Terminal, walk to the 42nd Street subway station and take the B, D, F, or M train towards Brooklyn. Get off at the 14th Street station. From 14th Street, transfer to the L train towards Brooklyn and get off at the 1st Avenue station. Exit the station and walk east towards Union Square.

Once you exit the 1st Avenue subway station, head west on 14th Street. Continue walking until you reach Union Square. The Union Square Greenmarket is located at the intersection of Union Square West and East 17th Street. It should take about 10-15 minutes on foot.
