Bus
From Paterson, head to the nearest NJ Transit bus stop. You can catch the NJ Transit Bus 86 towards New York Port Authority. Once on the bus, enjoy the ride for about 30-40 minutes. When you arrive at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City, exit the terminal and walk to 42nd Street. From there, take the subway by entering the Times Square subway station. Board the A or C train heading downtown and get off at the 59th Street - Columbus Circle station. From the subway station, exit onto Central Park West and walk north for about 5 minutes to reach the American Museum of Natural History at 200 Central Park West.

Make your way to the Paterson Train Station and board a NJ Transit train on the Main Line towards Hoboken. Alight at Secaucus Junction and transfer to a train heading to New York Penn Station. This should take about 40 minutes in total. Once at Penn Station, follow the signs to the subway and take the A or C train downtown to the 59th Street - Columbus Circle station. After exiting the subway, walk north along Central Park West for about 5 minutes to reach the American Museum of Natural History at 200 Central Park West.
