Car
If you are driving from a central location in the Skylands Region, take Route 287 South. Continue on 287 South for approximately 10 miles, then take exit 30A to merge onto NJ-202 South toward Basking Ridge. After about 4 miles, merge onto NJ-24 West. Continue on NJ-24 West for about 2 miles, then turn right onto Pleasant Plains Road. The Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge entrance will be on your left at 32 Pleasant Plains Rd, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. There is no entrance fee to the refuge.

To reach Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge using public transportation, start by taking NJ Transit Train from your nearest station to the Basking Ridge Station. Check the NJ Transit schedule for the most current times. Once you arrive at Basking Ridge Station, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service, as there is no direct public transportation to the refuge. The taxi ride to Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge will take approximately 10-15 minutes and may cost around $15-$20.

For those who enjoy biking, you can start from central Basking Ridge. Head south on South Finley Avenue, then turn right onto Brownlee Road. Continue until you reach Pleasant Plains Road.
