From Trenton, head to the Trenton Transit Center. You can take a local bus to get there if you're not within walking distance. Once at the Transit Center, purchase a ticket for a train to Philadelphia. Look for the NJ Transit train on the North Jersey Coast Line or the Raritan Valley Line. The journey to Philadelphia will take about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at Philadelphia's 30th Street Station, exit the station and walk to the SEPTA Market-Frankford Line subway station located underground. Take the subway towards Frankford and get off at 15th Street Station. From there, transfer to the SEPTA Broad Street Line subway going towards NRG Station. Get off at City Hall Station, then follow signs to the exit. Once above ground, walk east on Market Street until you reach Arch Street. Turn left on Arch Street and walk a few blocks until you find the African American Museum at 701 Arch St.

From Trenton, you can take the NJ Transit bus route 601 or 608 that goes directly to Philadelphia. Board the bus at the nearest bus stop to your location. The bus will take you to the Port Authority Terminal in Philadelphia. Once you arrive, exit the terminal and walk towards 8th Street. Turn left on 8th Street and continue walking until you reach Arch Street. Turn right on Arch Street, and you will find the African American Museum at 701 Arch St.

Walking from Trenton Transit Center
If you are already at the Trenton Transit Center, take the NJ Transit train to Philadelphia. Once you arrive at 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, exit the train station and walk to the nearby SEPTA subway station. Take the Market-Frankford Line towards Frankford and get off at 15th Street Station. From there, walk to the Broad Street Line subway station and take the train towards NRG Station. Get off at City Hall Station. Once you are above ground, walk east on Market Street to Arch Street, turn left, and continue until you reach the African American Museum at 701 Arch St.
