Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the center of Bernalillo, head east on NM-550 (Bernalillo Main St) towards the Sandia Mountains. Walk for approximately 1.5 miles until you reach the intersection with NM-528. Continue straight until you reach the Sandia Mountain trailhead, which is located on the left-hand side of the road.

  • Bicycle

    From Bernalillo, rent a bicycle and follow NM-550 east. Stay on this road, which will take you towards the Sandia Mountains. After about 1.5 miles, you will come to NM-528. Keep straight for another 0.5 miles until you reach the Sandia Mountain entrance on your left.

  • Public Transportation

    Take the NM Rail Runner Express from the Bernalillo station heading towards Albuquerque. Get off at the Sandia Pueblo stop. From there, you can either walk or take a local shuttle service that goes towards the Sandia Mountains. The walking distance from the station to the mountain entrance is about 2 miles.
