Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start from any point in Fire Island and head towards the nearest ferry terminal. The Fire Island Ferries operate from various points such as Sayville, Patchogue, and Bayshore. Once you reach the ferry terminal, take a ferry to the Fire Island community of your choice (e.g., Ocean Beach, Cherry Grove, or any other). After arriving on Fire Island, you will need to walk or rent a bike to navigate to the Manor of St. George. The manor is located in Shirley, NY 11967, which is on the mainland. Note that you will need to take the ferry back to the mainland and drive to the manor from there, which is approximately a 20-minute drive from the ferry terminal.

• Public Transportation

  If using public transportation, take the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) from Penn Station in New York City to either the Patchogue or Sayville station. From there, you can catch a taxi or rideshare service to the ferry terminal. After arriving on Fire Island via ferry, you will need to return to the mainland by ferry to reach the Manor of St. George in Shirley. Once back on the mainland, a taxi or rideshare can take you directly to the manor. Ensure to check the LIRR and ferry schedules for the most convenient travel times.

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike at the ferry terminal upon arriving on Fire Island. You could then take a leisurely ride through the island, but please note that you will need to return to the mainland to reach the Manor of St. George.
