Car
If you're driving to Barrett Beach Park, start by heading towards Sayville, NY. From the Long Island Expressway (I-495), take Exit 68 for Sunrise Highway (NY-27) towards East Patchogue. Merge onto NY-27 and continue for about 10 miles. Take the exit for County Road 39 and follow the signs towards Sayville. Once in Sayville, look for a parking area near the ferry terminal, as Barrett Beach Park is only accessible by ferry or water taxi.
Ferry from Sayville
After parking your car in Sayville, head to the Sayville Ferry Service terminal located at 40 River Road, Sayville, NY. Purchase a ticket for the ferry to Fire Island. The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Fire Island terminal, follow the signs to Barrett Beach Park, which is approximately a 15-minute walk from the ferry dock.
Public Transportation
To reach Sayville via public transportation, take the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) from Penn Station in Manhattan to Sayville Station. The trip usually takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive at Sayville Station, you can either walk to the ferry terminal (approximately 20 minutes) or take a local taxi to the terminal. From there, follow the ferry guidance to Barrett Beach Park.
