Car
If you're driving to Bear Mountain State Park, head towards the Palisades Interstate Parkway (PIP). From any location in Hudson Valley, make your way to the PIP. Take Exit 19 for Bear Mountain State Park. Follow the signs for the park, which is approximately 5 miles from the exit. The address is 3006 Seven Lakes Drive, Tomkins Cove, NY 10986. Parking fees may apply, typically around $10 per vehicle, and it’s advisable to have cash ready.
Public Transportation - Train and Bus
For those using public transport, take a Metro-North train from Grand Central Terminal in New York City to Peekskill Station. Once at Peekskill, you can catch the Bear Mountain Shuttle (seasonal service) or a local taxi to Bear Mountain State Park. The shuttle may have a small fare, generally around $2-$5. Make sure to check the schedule in advance as the shuttle may not run frequently.
Public Transportation - Bus
Another option is to take the Short Line Bus from various locations in the Hudson Valley to the Bear Mountain area. Check the Short Line Bus schedule for routes and stops. After arriving at the nearest bus stop, you may need to take a local taxi or walk (if close enough) to reach Bear Mountain State Park, located at 3006 Seven Lakes Drive, Tomkins Cove, NY 10986.
