Car
If you're driving from the northern parts of the Hudson Valley, take the New York State Thruway (I-87) South towards New York City. Exit at Exit 21 (Catskill) and follow signs for NY-23 East. Continue on NY-23 for approximately 15 miles. You will pass through the small towns of Catskill and then Tannersville. Five State Lookout will be on your right at 7604 NY-23, Acra, NY 12405. Look for the parking area on the right side.
Car
If you are coming from the southern parts of Hudson Valley, you can take the Taconic State Parkway North. Exit at NY-23 and turn right onto NY-23 East. Continue on NY-23 for about 10 miles, and Five State Lookout will be on your right at 7604 NY-23, Acra, NY 12405.
Public Transportation
To reach Five State Lookout via public transportation, take a Metro-North train to Hudson Station. From Hudson, you will need to take the Columbia County Public Transit bus (Route 5) towards Catskill. Get off at the Catskill bus terminal, where you can transfer to a local taxi service or rideshare to reach Five State Lookout. The address is 7604 NY-23, Acra, NY 12405. It's recommended to check the bus schedules ahead of time as service may be limited.
Walk
If you are already in the vicinity and prefer walking, be prepared for a hike. The Five State Lookout is accessible via a short walking trail from the parking area. This trail may be steep in some sections, so wear comfortable shoes and prepare for a moderate walk to reach the lookout point.
