Car
To reach Kaaterskill Falls Viewing Platform by car, start from the town center of Hudson, NY. Head southwest on Route 9G towards the Rip Van Winkle Bridge. Cross the bridge and merge onto Route 23. Continue on Route 23 for about 12 miles. Turn right onto Route 32 and follow it for approximately 5 miles until you reach the intersection with Laurel House Road. Turn left onto Laurel House Road. Follow this road for about 1 mile; the parking area for Kaaterskill Falls will be on your left. Note: There is a parking fee of $10 per vehicle, so be prepared to pay.
Public Transportation
If you're using public transportation, take the Metro-North Railroad from New York City to the Hudson station. From Hudson station, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service to Kaaterskill Falls. The distance is about 15 miles, so the fare may vary, typically ranging from $30 to $50 depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the parking area on Laurel House Road, you can access the Viewing Platform by following the marked path from the parking lot.
Hiking
If you are already in the area and prefer hiking, you can reach Kaaterskill Falls from the nearby trails. From the Kaaterskill Falls parking area, the Viewing Platform is a short hike of about 0.3 miles. Follow the signs to the falls, and remember to wear appropriate hiking shoes as the path can be rocky and steep in places. Always check the weather conditions before heading out.
