Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving from Poughkeepsie, take Route 44/55 West for about 22 miles. Continue on NY-28 West for approximately 12 miles. Look for signs for the Ashokan Reservoir, which will be on your right side. You can park at the designated parking area near the visitor center.

  • Car

    From Kingston, head west on NY-28 for about 10 miles. Follow the signs for Ashokan Reservoir, which will be a left turn onto the access road. After about 1 mile, you'll reach the visitor center parking area.

  • Public Transportation

    Take the Trailways Bus from New York City to Kingston. Once in Kingston, transfer to the Ulster County Area Transit (UCAT) bus heading towards Highmount. Get off at the stop closest to the Ashokan Reservoir. It is advisable to check the schedule for the latest bus times.

  • Car

    If you're coming from New Paltz, head north on NY-32 for about 10 miles. Turn left onto NY-299 West and then merge onto NY-28 West. After about 12 miles, look for signs for the Ashokan Reservoir on your right. Parking is available at the visitor center.
