Getting There

    From the center of Montauk (the intersection of Main Street and Edgemere Street), head east on Main Street until you reach the intersection with Montauk Highway (Route 27). Turn left onto Montauk Highway and continue walking for about 1.5 miles. You'll see Camp Hero State Park on your right at 1898 Montauk Hwy. Look for the entrance sign as you approach.

    If you have access to a bike, you can rent one at various locations in Montauk. Start at the bike rental shop and head towards Main Street. Cycle east on Main Street until you reach Montauk Highway (Route 27). Turn left onto Montauk Highway and bike for approximately 1.5 miles. Camp Hero State Park will be on your right at 1898 Montauk Hwy. Be cautious of traffic as you ride along the highway.

    Take the Suffolk County Transit bus (S92 line) from the Montauk train station. Board the bus heading towards East Hampton. Request a stop at 'Montauk Highway and Camp Hero,' which is a short walk from the park entrance. Once you get off, walk back a few steps, and you will see the entrance to Camp Hero State Park on your left.
