Bus
To reach McLeans Forest from central Christchurch, start by taking the Metro bus service. You can catch the number 29 bus from the 'Christchurch Bus Exchange' located at 37 Lichfield Street. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the latest departures. You will want to ride the bus towards 'Wigram' and remain on the bus for approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the 'McLeans Island' stop (this is the nearest stop to the forest). From the bus stop, walk approximately 1 kilometer down McLeans Island Road, following the signs towards McLeans Forest.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the many bike rental shops in the city. Start by cycling towards the 'Avon River' and follow the river pathway until you reach 'Hagley Park'. Continue through Hagley Park and exit at the 'Hagley Ave' entrance. Head northwest along the 'Hagley Ave' until you reach 'Blighs Road'. From there, take a left onto 'Blighs Road' and cycle until you reach 'McLeans Island Road'. Follow the road signs to McLeans Forest, which is about a 10-kilometer ride from central Christchurch.

Walking
Walking to McLeans Forest from the city center is quite a long trek, but if you’re up for it, head west from the 'Christchurch Cathedral' towards 'Victoria Square'. Continue onto 'Armagh Street' which will take you to 'Hagley Park'. Walk through the park towards 'Riccarton Avenue'. Once you reach 'Riccarton Avenue', cross over to 'Blighs Road' and walk straight until you reach 'McLeans Island Road'. From there, follow the road signs to McLeans Forest. This walk can take about 2 hours, so be prepared with water and snacks.
