Start your journey at the Christchurch Bus Exchange located at 37 Lichfield Street. Purchase a ticket for the Route 84 bus heading to Swannanoa. The bus typically departs every 30 minutes. Stay on the bus for approximately 35 minutes until you reach the stop at Swannanoa School. From here, head north on State Highway 1 for about 1.5 kilometers. You will need to walk along the shoulder of the road as you go. Look for signs pointing towards the Waimakariri River Regional Park, where Baynons Brake is located.

Rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Christchurch, such as 'Bikes & Beyond'. Once you're ready, head towards the Waimakariri River via Tram Road. Follow the road north for approximately 10 kilometers, which will take you about 30-45 minutes depending on your cycling speed. Once you reach the river, look for the entrance to Baynons Brake, which will be well-marked.

If you're up for a long walk, you can start from Christchurch central and make your way to Baynons Brake. Begin by heading north on Colombo Street until you reach the intersection with Bealey Avenue. Continue north until you reach the Waimakariri River. This route is approximately 20 kilometers and will take around 4 to 5 hours. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water as there are limited facilities along the way.
