Look for bus routes 1, 17, or 28, which all head towards Riccarton. Board the bus and enjoy the ride; it should take about 15-20 minutes. Get off at the stop named 'Riccarton Avenue near the Botanic Gardens'. From there, walk down Riccarton Avenue for about 5 minutes. The Rose Garden will be on your left, just before you reach the Botanic Gardens entrance.

If you are staying in Christchurch Central, you can walk to the Rose Garden. Start at the Christchurch Cathedral in Cathedral Square and head west on Worcester Boulevard. Continue on this road until you reach the intersection with Rolleston Avenue. Turn left onto Rolleston Avenue and follow it until you reach Riccarton Avenue. Turn right onto Riccarton Avenue, and the Rose Garden will be on your right in about a 10-15 minute walk.

For those who prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the many rental shops in the city. Start your journey at the Christchurch Cycleway network, heading towards Hagley Park. Once you reach Hagley Park, follow the cycling paths that lead towards the Botanic Gardens. When you arrive at the entrance of the Botanic Gardens on Rolleston Avenue, continue along Riccarton Avenue until you see the Rose Garden on your left. The ride should take around 15-20 minutes.
