    Start at the Gisborne i-SITE Visitor Centre located at 209 Grey Street, Gisborne. From the i-SITE, head east on Grey Street and turn left onto Carnarvon Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Wainui Road. Cross Wainui Road and continue straight onto the footpath. After about 1.5 km, you will reach the intersection with the State Highway 35. Carefully cross the highway and continue straight onto the Waimata Valley Road. After approximately 4 km, you will see the entrance to Gray's Bush Scenic Reserve on your right. Follow the signs to the walking tracks.

  • Public Transport

    From the Gisborne city center, take bus route 1 towards Waimata. Board the bus at the nearest stop and inform the driver you wish to get off at Waimata Valley Road. The bus ride will take around 30 minutes. Once you get off at Waimata Valley Road, walk back about 300 meters towards the Gray's Bush Scenic Reserve entrance, which will be on your right. Follow the signs to the walking tracks.
