From the Gisborne i-SITE Visitor Centre located at 209 Grey Street, walk to the nearby bus stop on Grey Street. Board the bus heading to Waimata. Inform the driver you want to get off at Riverside Road, which is the nearest stop to Longbush Reserve. After disembarking, walk along Riverside Road for approximately 1.5 kilometers. Follow the signs that direct you to Longbush Reserve, which will be on your left. The walk will take around 20-25 minutes.

Rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Gisborne. Start from the Gisborne i-SITE Visitor Centre and head towards the riverside. Follow the path along the Waimata River, which will lead you towards Riverside Road. Continue cycling for about 5 kilometers on Riverside Road until you reach Longbush Reserve. If you prefer to walk, start at the Gisborne i-SITE Visitor Centre. Head east on Grey Street, then turn left onto the main road towards Waimata. Walk along the footpath for approximately 5 kilometers, following the signs for Riverside Road. Upon reaching Riverside Road, turn left and continue walking for about 1.5 kilometers until you see the entrance to Longbush Reserve on your left. This walk will take around 1 hour and 15 minutes.
