From Gisborne city center, walk to the Gisborne Bus Station located on Customhouse Street. Take the bus heading towards Ngatapa. The bus ride takes approximately 30 minutes. Request the driver to drop you off at the closest stop to Wharekopae Road. From there, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 kilometers along Wharekopae Road to reach Eastwoodhill National Arboretum, which is located at 2392 Wharekopae Road.

Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Gisborne. Start your ride from the city center and head southeast towards Wharekopae Road. Follow the cycle paths and road signs directing you to Ngatapa. The distance is about 12 kilometers and will take roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour. Once on Wharekopae Road, continue cycling until you see the entrance to Eastwoodhill National Arboretum at 2392 Wharekopae Road.
