Rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Gisborne. Start your journey from the Gisborne city center and head southeast on Customhouse Street. Continue onto Awapuni Road which will take you out of the city. Follow Rere Road for approximately 20 kilometers until you reach Rere Falls. The ride will take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace.

It's approximately a 20 km walk, so prepare for a full day journey. Follow Awapuni Road and then Rere Road.
