If you prefer to walk, you can start from the Greymouth town center. Head south on Mawhera Quay toward the roundabout. Continue straight onto State Highway 6. After approximately 4.5 kilometers (about an hour's walk), you will see the entrance to Shantytown Heritage Park on your left at 316 Rutherglen Road. Be cautious as the highway can be busy.
