From the Nelson City Centre, walk to the Nelson Bus Station located on Bridge Street. Take the bus route heading towards Cable Bay. Ensure to check the bus schedule for the latest timings. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the Cable Bay stop, which is a short walk from the Cable Bay beach.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the local bike rental shops in Nelson, such as 'Nelson Bike Hire' located on Trafalgar Street. Head north on Trafalgar Street until you reach the intersection with State Highway 6. Turn left onto State Highway 6 and continue on the cycle path for about 8 kilometers. Follow the signs to Cable Bay. Once you arrive in Cable Bay, you will find the beach and surrounding attractions.
Walking
If you're feeling adventurous and up for a long walk, start from the Nelson City Centre. Head north on Trafalgar Street, which will turn into Waimea Road. Continue walking for about 7 kilometers until you reach the junction for State Highway 6. Turn left and walk towards Cable Bay. This walk will take you approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. Enjoy the scenic views along the way!
