If you are in the center of New Plymouth, start at the New Plymouth i-SITE Visitor Centre located at 84 Carrington Street. From there, head north on Carrington Street towards the intersection with Devon Street. Cross Devon Street and continue straight onto Mangorei Road. Keep walking for about 2.5 kilometers. You will pass through residential areas and see signs for local shops. Eventually, look for Te Mete Park on your left at 132 Mangorei Road, Merrilands. The entrance to the park is clearly marked.

Begin your journey at the New Plymouth Bus Terminal. Take the bus route that services Merrilands. Buses usually leave every 30 minutes. You will want to get off at the stop closest to 132 Mangorei Road. After disembarking, walk a short distance back towards Mangorei Road, and you will find Te Mete Park on your left. Make sure to check the local bus schedule for the most accurate times.

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from various rental shops in New Plymouth. Start at the New Plymouth Coastal Walkway and cycle towards the city center. From there, head towards Mangorei Road. Follow the route along the main roads, ensuring to follow the bike lanes where available. After approximately 3 kilometers, you will reach Te Mete Park at 132 Mangorei Road. There are bike racks available at the park for you to secure your bike.
