Getting There

Car

From any location in Taranaki, head towards New Plymouth. If you're on State Highway 3, take the exit towards New Plymouth. Once you're in the city, follow local signs pointing to the city center. Continue on Devon Street East, then turn left onto Robe Street. Follow Robe Street until you reach Marsland Hill. The New Plymouth Observatory is located at the top of Marsland Hill. There is limited parking available on-site.
Public Transportation

If you prefer public transportation, catch a bus to New Plymouth Central. The Taranaki Regional Council operates several bus routes that service the area. Once you arrive at the central bus station, you can either walk (approximately 20 minutes) or take a taxi to the observatory. To walk, head south on Brougham Street, then turn left onto Robe Street and proceed up Marsland Hill. The observatory is located at the summit. Taxis can be found outside the bus station and will take you directly to the observatory for a small fee.
