Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey in the town of Russell. Head southwest on Russell Road towards Okiato Road. Continue on Okiato Road which becomes the Okiato - Russell Road. After approximately 6 kilometers, take a left onto the ferry terminal road leading to the Okiato to Opua ferry. The ferry ride takes about 10 minutes and costs around NZD 20 per vehicle. Once you arrive at Opua, continue on State Highway 11 heading north for about 12 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for Rawhiti Road. Follow Rawhiti Road until you reach the Rawhiti Wharf, where you can park your car. From the wharf, you will need to take a water taxi to Akeake Bay, which will cost approximately NZD 35 per person.

For those using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Kerikeri or Paihia to Russell. Once in Russell, walk to the Okiato ferry terminal. You can catch the ferry to Opua, which runs regularly and costs around NZD 10 per person. After arriving in Opua, you will need to take a taxi to Rawhiti Wharf. The taxi ride will take about 15 minutes and may cost around NZD 30. At Rawhiti Wharf, you can hire a water taxi to Akeake Bay for approximately NZD 35 per person.
