If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Whangarei, which is approximately 2 hours away from Otaio Bay. Head northeast on State Highway 1 (SH1) towards Kawakawa. Continue on SH1 until you reach the intersection with State Highway 10 (SH10). Take the left exit onto SH10 and follow it through Kerikeri. After Kerikeri, continue on SH10 until you reach the junction with State Highway 1 again near Kaitaia. Take the right onto SH1 and follow it for about 20 minutes until you reach Rawhiti Road. Turn left onto Rawhiti Road and follow this road until you spot Otaio Bay on your right.
