Start at the Tauranga City Bus Station (located at 2 Willow St, Tauranga). Take the Baybus Route 24 towards Lower Kaimai. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the latest times. The bus will take you on a scenic route and drop you off at the nearest stop to McLaren Falls, which is on McLaren Falls Road. From the bus stop, walk approximately 1.5 km along McLaren Falls Road to reach the entrance of McLaren Falls Park. Follow the signs to the park entrance.

Rent a bicycle from one of the local bike rental shops in Tauranga. Head towards the waterfront and follow the cycle path along the coast. Continue to follow the signs towards McLaren Falls, which is approximately a 15 km ride from the city center. You will travel along the scenic route of State Highway 29, then turn onto McLaren Falls Road. The ride is mostly flat with some gentle hills, and you will enjoy beautiful views of the countryside.

Walking directly to McLaren Falls from Tauranga is quite a long trek (approximately 20 km). Start from the Tauranga City Center and head towards the Tauranga Domain, then follow the walking paths towards the suburb of Otumoetai. From Otumoetai, navigate towards State Highway 29 and continue heading towards Lower Kaimai. You can stop for breaks at local parks and cafes along the way. Upon reaching McLaren Falls Road, follow it until you arrive at the entrance of the park. This journey will take several hours, so ensure you have adequate supplies and wear comfortable footwear.
