Getting There

  • Walking

    Start at the Wanaka i-SITE Visitor Information Centre located at 103 Ardmore Street. From here, head south on Ardmore Street towards the lakefront. Continue walking until you reach the lake. Once you reach the lake, turn right onto the lakeside path. Follow this path along the waterfront for about 20 minutes, enjoying the views of Lake Wanaka and the surrounding mountains. After approximately 1 km, you will come to the Wanaka Tree, a well-known photo spot. Continue walking along the path until you reach the end of the lakefront and then turn left onto Brownston Street. #ThatWanakaStump will be located on your right at 212 Brownston Street.

    If you have access to a bike, you can rent one from local shops near the Wanaka town center. Start at the Wanaka i-SITE Visitor Information Centre at 103 Ardmore Street and head south on Ardmore Street to the lakefront. Once you reach the lake, turn right and follow the lakeside path.
