From the center of Wanaka, head to the nearest bus stop located on Ardmore Street. Board the Wanaka to Luggate bus which operates regularly. Make sure to check the current schedule for the specific timing. The bus will take you along the Wanaka-Luggate Highway. Stay on the bus for approximately 15-20 minutes. Get off at the stop closest to the National Transport & Toy Museum, which is located at 891 Wanaka-Luggate Highway. From the bus stop, it is a short walk to the museum entrance.

If you prefer a more active means of transport, consider renting a bicycle from one of the rental shops in central Wanaka. Head towards the Wanaka-Luggate Highway and follow it northwest. The ride is approximately 7 kilometers and will take around 20-30 minutes, depending on your speed. Keep an eye out for any bike lanes and follow the road signs. Upon reaching the museum at 891 Wanaka-Luggate Highway, lock your bike at the designated bike rack provided.
