Start at the Wanaka i-SITE Visitor Centre located at 103 Ardmore Street. Exit the i-SITE and head south on Ardmore Street toward the lakefront. Continue walking until you reach the lake. Once at the lake, take the path that runs along the water's edge. Follow the path for about 10 minutes, enjoying the beautiful views of Lake Wanaka and the surrounding mountains. After reaching the end of the lakefront path, turn right onto the track that leads toward the Clutha River. Follow the signs for the Clutha River pathway, which will take you along the riverbank. Continue on this path for approximately 20 minutes until you reach the Clutha River Seat, which offers stunning views of the river and surrounding landscape.

If you have a bike, rent one from a local shop in Wanaka, such as Wanaka Bike Tours, located at 52 Brownston Street. From the bike rental shop, head south on Brownston Street until you reach Ardmore Street. Turn left onto Ardmore Street and head toward the lakefront. Continue to the lake and pick up the lakeshore bike path. Follow the path along the lake until you reach the end and turn right onto the Clutha River pathway. Cycle along the riverbank for about 15-20 minutes until you arrive at the Clutha River Seat. Enjoy the scenic views and take a break at the seat.

While there is no direct public transport to the Clutha River Seat, you can take a local shuttle service to the nearest point along the river. Start from the Wanaka i-SITE and ask for local shuttle options to the Clutha River area. Once dropped off, follow the signage to the Clutha River pathway.
