Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Whanganui Riverfront, head towards the Whanganui City Bridge. Follow the path along the river until you reach the bridge. Cross the bridge, and as you come down the other side, you will see Bates Street. Turn right onto Bates Street and continue walking for about 200 meters. Moutoa Gardens will be on your left, just before the intersection with St Hill Street.

    If you're near the Whanganui i-SITE Visitor Information Centre, you can catch a bus heading towards the central city. Ask the driver to drop you off at the stop closest to Bates Street. Once you disembark, walk along Bates Street towards the river. Moutoa Gardens will be on your left after about a 5-minute walk.

    If you have a bike, start from the Whanganui Riverbank and follow the cycle path along the river. Continue until you reach the Whanganui City Bridge. Cross the bridge, and as you come down the ramp, take a right onto Bates Street. Moutoa Gardens will be about a 200-meter ride on your left.
