    Starting from the Whanganui Riverfront, head south along the river pathway. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Victoria Avenue. Turn left onto Victoria Avenue and walk for about 10 minutes, passing by various shops and cafes. You will eventually see a sign for Maria Place on your right. Turn onto Maria Place and continue straight. Cooks Gardens will be on your left, marked by its large entrance.

    If you are near the Whanganui bus station, catch a local bus heading towards Victoria Avenue. Get off at the stop closest to Maria Place. From there, walk south on Maria Place for about 5 minutes, and you will arrive at Cooks Gardens, located on your left.
