Start at the Whanganui Riverfront. Head north along the riverbank pathway until you reach the intersection with Victoria Avenue. Turn left onto Victoria Avenue and continue walking. After approximately 500 meters, you will reach the intersection with St Hill Street. Turn right onto St Hill Street and continue for about 1 kilometer. The Ward Observatory will be on your left at 121 St Hill Street.

Catch a bus from the Whanganui Bus Terminal located at 1 Victoria Avenue. Look for a bus that heads towards St Hill Street. After about 10 minutes, disembark at the St Hill Street stop. From there, walk approximately 200 meters north along St Hill Street. The Ward Observatory will be on your left at 121 St Hill Street.

Begin at the Whanganui Riverfront and ride north along the riverbank cycle path. Merge onto Victoria Avenue and ride for about 500 meters. Once you reach the intersection with St Hill Street, turn right and continue cycling for approximately 1 kilometer. The Ward Observatory will be on your left at 121 St Hill Street.
