    If you are starting from Whangarei's Town Basin, begin by heading northwest on Dent Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Russell Road. Turn right onto Russell Road and continue walking. After about 1 kilometer, turn left onto Mount Parihaka Road. Follow this road until you reach the parking area at the base of Mount Parihaka. From there, you can take the walking track that leads to the Lookout and Memorial. The track is well-marked and takes about 20-30 minutes to walk up.

    From the Whangarei Transport Centre, take the bus that heads towards Kamo. Ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest stop to Mount Parihaka Road.
