Start from the Whangarei Town Basin. Head south on the main street, Bank Street, until you reach the intersection with Ruatangata Road. Turn left onto Ruatangata Road and continue walking. After approximately 1.5 kilometers, turn right onto Parihaka Road, which leads you directly towards Mount Parihaka. Keep walking straight until you reach the entrance of the Mount Parihaka Reserve.

Once you reach the entrance of the Mount Parihaka Reserve, follow the marked walking track leading up the hill. The track is well maintained and offers several viewpoints along the way. Continue up the path for about 30-45 minutes depending on your pace, until you arrive at the Mount Parihaka Lookout and Memorial at the top. Be sure to enjoy the stunning views over Whangarei and the surrounding areas!

From the Whangarei Town Basin, walk to the nearest bus stop on Bank Street and take the bus heading towards the Parihaka area. You can ask the driver to drop you off at the closest stop to Mount Parihaka. Once you get off the bus, follow the signs to the entrance of the Mount Parihaka Reserve and proceed by foot along the walking track to the lookout.
