Merge onto I-40 E and travel approximately 20 miles until you reach exit 273 for US-15 S/US-501 S towards Chapel Hill. Continue on US-15 S for about 30 miles, then take the exit toward NC-54 E. Follow NC-54 E for about 2 miles and take a right onto E Franklin St. Morehead Planetarium and Science Center will be on your left at 250 E Franklin St, Chapel Hill, NC 27514. There is parking available nearby, but be aware that some lots may charge a fee.

For public transportation, start at the Boone Transit Station. Take the Appalcart Blue Route towards Watauga Medical Center. Transfer to the Watauga County Shuttle to reach the closest bus stop for the regional bus service. Board the bus towards Greensboro and get off at the Chapel Hill stop. From there, you can catch the Chapel Hill Transit bus (Route J) towards E Franklin St. Get off at the stop near 250 E Franklin St. Note that you may need to check the schedule in advance as buses may not run frequently.
