Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from any location in High Country, start by getting onto US-321 S. Continue on US-321 S for approximately 60 miles until you reach the junction with I-85. Merge onto I-85 S toward Charlotte. After about 15 miles, take exit 21 for US-321 toward Gastonia. Follow US-321 S for about 8 miles. Take exit 1 for Franklin Blvd/US-29 S. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for US-29 S and merge onto Franklin Blvd. Continue on Franklin Blvd for about 2 miles, then turn left onto S York St. In about 0.5 miles, you will arrive at the York Chester National Historic District, located in Gastonia, NC 28052. Parking is available on the street or nearby lots, which may incur a small fee depending on the area.

  If you prefer to use public transportation, you will need to first reach a bus station that services routes to Gastonia. Consider taking a bus from Boone or Blowing Rock to the nearest larger town with bus services, such as Hickory. From Hickory, you can take a Greyhound or a local bus service to Gastonia. Once you arrive at the Gastonia bus station, you can either walk or take a local taxi or rideshare service to York Chester National Historic District. The district is about 1 mile from the bus station, which takes roughly 20-25 minutes to walk. If you opt for a taxi or rideshare, expect to pay around $10-$15 for the short trip.
