If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Burnsville, NC. Head south on US-19E S for about 6 miles. Continue on this road until you reach the junction with NC-128. Turn left onto NC-128 and follow it for approximately 7 miles. You will see signs for Mount Mitchell State Park. The park entrance is located at 2388 NC-128, Burnsville, NC 28714. There is no entrance fee for the park, but if you plan on using any amenities, be sure to bring cash or a credit/debit card.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited in this area. However, you can take a bus from Asheville to Burnsville. Check the local transit authority for schedules (e.g., Mountain Mobility). Once you arrive in Burnsville, you will need to use a rideshare service or taxi to reach Mount Mitchell State Park, as there are no direct public transport routes to the park itself.
